Prewriting #5

Will virtual reality be limited to the gaming world?

Believing:
Virtual reality will be limited to gaming.  I don't see any possible outcome in which it can be used for something else.  When I think about virtual reality, I think about immersing myself into a game.  A way to more freely explore worlds, or make a game more interactive and personal.  Video gaming is virtual reality.  I would imagine you can create your wolds to play in where the rules are set by you, the game master.  You can even share you worlds with other players, or just keep it between friends.  It could also be the immersion of your senses into a game.  Where you actually are the character in the game, and you run around saving the world.  It would be extremely cool, and I would like to think I will be able to do this one day.  It would also be a cool way to improve games such as dungeons and dragons. The dungeon master could create a world and run it as his/her players run around the world defending, attacking, or role playing.  You could actually play as your characters, and do as they would do in a lot of different worlds and battles.  Virtual reality will improve the lives of nerds everywhere.

Doubting:
Virtual is not something will be limited to gaming.  I can see it as you create scenarios for people to live out.  Such as training simulations, or practicing some necessary skill.  You could an actual surgical room with various patients for different procedures for doctors to practice on before they do the real thing.  You could also help to improve flying simulations.  Instead of sitting in a box in a room somewhere, you would "actually" be flying a plane and practicing how to correctly fly it, and handle it in various dangerous scenarios.  It would also be an immersion into the world of movies.  You could be in a room with the movie and walk around the characters.  You could explore every part of the set, and watch everything from different things without actually intervening in the movie.  It would be a really cool way to experience it.  Or if you want to learn how to do something.  You can look up a how to video and can actually be in a room with an expert and learn to do the things that they do.
